HANDCRAFTED BAGS, BAVARIA, GERMANY

What is your Random Act of Creativity?

My creations are about reinventing the traditional to create casual yet elegant designed handbags.

I grew up in the rolling hills of southern Bavaria but lived all over Europe in the past years.  My designs reflect devotion to tradition and sophisticated handcraft, as well as my lifestyle closely connected to nature. Through travels, hunting and a passion for horsemanship, I formed a love for leather at an early age.

I studied leather goods construction & pattern making in Milan before my brand came to life in Florence, the traditional capital of leather goods manufacturing, where I learnt the art of crafting handbags.

The brand is about carefully chosen local materials, devoted craftsmanship and the serenity of manual work.  All bags are of unique quality because I hand pick the hides and manufacture all bags personally.  All leathers are locally sourced and treated in regional tanneries using century old techniques.

The materials include suede, Napa leather, pig skin and calf hair.

This design is simple, but detailed using elaborate materials and techniques. By using the Mexican braiding method to assemble my bags, I can refrain from machinery and return to manual artisanal techniques that have almost become obsolete in today’s leather industry.

Due to the natural differences of every hide and the lengthy individual manufacturing process, each piece is unique.

What does Creativity mean to you?

Creativity is the expression of a vision; of showing others something they cannot see.

It is about taking a detail and creating a world.  It can be both, a reinvention and the creation of something new.
