Open Spaces Magazine

What is your Random Act of Creativity? Founded by Yara Akkari, OPEN SPACES is an independent bi-annual print magazine which explores the connection between art, travel and the outdoors.  Now more than ever we crave open spaces, and through this print magazine we hope to share our journeys and to inspire our readers.

Because We love exploring the outdoors, we love experiencing art, outside the four walls of a gallery. We love working with photographers and writers who are passionate and want to see their work printed. We love inspiring our readers to think freely, and believe travel reminds us of our freedom and helps define who we are as individuals. We believe in the magic of allowing for spontaneity and to follow curiosity and we hate to be dictated what to do or see. Finding something new and pure in the unexpected.

What is your creative mission? I believe in the power of print, in an age where everything has become digitized and people are glued to their phones, I want to bring an emphasis back to print magazines, in a sustainable and conscious way, via these long-term passions of mine, and expose the power and beauty of remote travel and to experience art outside the confines of gallery walls. I have always loved connecting with people on a local level, and I hope that through OPEN SPACES I can encourage people to explore and discover a location from a new perspective, by taking the time to enjoy the journey (and not only the destination!) and connect with a community.
