What is your Random Acts of Creativity?
Creating Art of the things I love. I was born and raised in Italy in the beautiful coastal region of Versilia in Tuscany, and I am currently living between New York City and the Hamptons. I have been exposed to art history and architecture since my early studies in Italy and I continue to explore the art world in New York. I have been pursuing my passion of drawing and painting by studying at the Artist League of New York with renown teacher and artist Frederick Brosen.
What is your creative mission?
I find inspiration from the beautiful objects and architectural details that surrounds us, from a porcelain Ming Dynasty jar to an old charming wooden door to larger scale inspirations such as homes and surrounding landscapes. My process begins with a photograph, which I then sketch on to paper to capture the unique quality and character of the subject. I use watercolor as a painting medium beginning with light washes. I then add layer over layer of rich tones. The final work is rich in luminosity and transparency thanks to the unique qualities of the medium. The ultimate goal of the piece is to attempt to evoke emotions similar to those that are brought about by the original subject that inspired the work.
